Local business leader awarded for his volunteer efforts as a small business mentor

Calgary AB April 12, 2005

The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), Canada’s leading organization dedicated to the success of young entrepreneurs, is pleased to announce the national Outstanding Mentor award recipient – Marty Park, mentor to Shauna Teare and Angie Lamont of PURE Indulgent Foods in Calgary Alberta.

The co-owner and operator of six successful Calgary-based businesses, Marty Park has been involved in all phases of start-up, including corporate strategy, sales and marketing, and financial operations. Marty launched his first company in 1991 and currently operates a business coaching organization, Evolve Business Group. Marty is also an owner and shareholder in two successful Calgary restaurants called San Remo Ristorante launched in 2001 and still expanding today.

Launched in July 2003 with assistance from CYBF. Pure Indulgent Foods is a producer of special dietary & organic foods for distribution to natural food stores across Canada. Pure uses locally farmed organic ingredients to produce goods, which are sinfully indulgent, catering to those who normally don't get to enjoy such foods due to dietary restrictions..

“It has been truly amazing to have such a skilled sounding board to vent to, be challenged by, and trust, comments Teare. His charismatic approach to mentoring is energizing & contagious. Whenever we are amid a crisis or great achievement his cell phone is one of the first numbers we dial.”.

Both mentor and protégé attend the CYBF National Awards Gala on May 24, 2005 at the Westin Harbour Castle hotel in Toronto. The Outstanding Mentor recipient will be honoured along with two other volunteer award recipients and ten provincial young entrepreneur Best Business Award recipients.

“For the first time CYBF is showcasing ten provincial Best Business recipients – presenting the true diversity of youth entrepreneurship across Canada, comments CYBF CEO Vivian Woytiuk. As a national organization with our offer available coast-to-coast, it is important for CYBF to acknowledge these businesses and to provide an opportunity for Canadians to see the talent this country can produce with the right focus. We are supporting the next generation of business leaders by helping youth help themselves.”
