CYBF Award Winners Share Entrepreneurial Experiences in Buenos, Aires, Argentina, and Seoul, Korea

Buenos, Aires, Argentina, and Seoul, Korea – August 3, 2005

Two young Canadian entrepreneurs are participating in meetings of international importance- one in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and another in Seoul, Korea.

“I’m excited about my upcoming trip to Buenos Aires that will benefit youth entrepreneurs,” says Harry Chemko, CEO of Elastic Path Software Inc. Opened with CYBF startup financing and business mentoring, Elastic Path Software Inc. is an e-commerce software vendor Chemko founded with three other Vancouver-based young entrepreneurs. They’ve grown to 28 staff, have customers across North America and Europe, and won CYBF’s 2005 National Best Business Award.

Chemko will have a lengthy dialogue with a 19 year old female Bolivian entrepreneur, as part the “Young Entrepreneurs of the Americas Forum for the Participation of the Civil Society in the Process of the Summit of the Americas.” This event will take place August 10-12, 2005, in Buenos Aires, and is a key part of the information gathering which ensures civil society participation in the Summit of the Americas.

Across the equator, in Seoul, young entrepreneur Ceilidh McClurg represented Canada at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s workshop on women’s e-business training from July 24-30, 2005. There, female entrepreneurs discovered new technology and e-business tools, and discussed collaborative opportunities. Ceilidh spoke about founding and managing Extend Marketing.

Extend Marketing assists businesses to implement and measure their corporate giving and community relations programs. Opened with CYBF start-up financing and mentoring, it was recognized as CYBF’s 2005 Alberta Business of the Year.

“This conference was an unparalled opportunity. I experienced and contributed in defining Canada’s best e-business practices from around the world to the benefit of my clients, co-workers, and Canada’s economy,” explains McClurg.

“CYBF is proud of young entrepreneurs like Harry and Ceilidh for their vision, work ethic and courage in becoming successful young entrepreneurs. We are delighted to provide each of them opportunities to share their talent and winning entrepreneurial strategies globally. They truly represent Canada’s youth, and are a stellar example of CYBF’s mandate,” explains CYBF’s CEO, Vivian Woytiuk.
